rt

A repo tree manager for Git: every clone lands at a path computed from its remote URL.

  • CLI
  • Worktrees

rt (repo tree) decides where my repositories live. Rather than remembering a dozen checkout locations, it derives one from the remote URL — {root}/{host}/{owner}/{repo} — and clones there, so anything that can name a repository can also find it on disk.

Highlights

  • rt clone, rt tree, and rt delete manage the whole tree against a single ~/.rt.toml
  • rt wt gives each branch its own checkout on top of one object store, so switching branches never unpacks a second copy of the history
  • Shallow clones by default, optional zoxide and autojump registration, and a stdout contract that scripts can rely on
  • Written in Rust as a single command-line binary
